How to Color

There are many ways to color these coloring pages. You can use colored pencils, markers, or even crayons. If you are able to print these in harder stock paper, you can even use paint like watercolors.

Coloring with Color Pencils

For colored pencils, the Prismacolor pencils are great. They are soft and blend nicely to get vibrant colors. Start with lighter colors and continue to work darker and darker. Colored pencils are easy to use but generally takes longer to color in large areas. But if you are willing to spend the time, colored pencil artworks are clean and beautiful to look at.

Coloring with Markers

For markers, the best and easiest to use are the Copic markers. They are more expensive but their inks do not dry as quickly as other brands so it is more forgiving. Longer drying time means better and easier blending. Copic markers are considered to be more for professionals. The least expensive markers you can get would be like the Crayola markers. They dry almost instantaneously and does not blend well, but with the right colors, you can create a very colorful and vibrant piece of art.

Coloring with Crayons

Crayons are the easiest to use for coloring. They offer bright colors and are the least expensive way to color. Try using multiple colors on the same surface to mix colors. Mixing the right colors creates a more interesting and vibrant effect.

Coloring with Paint

If you want to use paint to color, I would recommend watercolors. Watercolors are inexpensive and easy to use. You will need to print the coloring pages into harder stock paper. Painting on thin paper will result in crinkling as it won’t hold the watery paints well. There are also watercolor pencils which is a nice alternative to the paints. Watercolor pencils are just like any other colored pencils except you can apply water afterwards to create a nice painterly look.

Whatever methods you use to color, make sure to have fun with it.
